It used to be that the homes surrounding The Fountains Country Club west of Lake Worth Beach were restricted to those over 55. The rules also stated that to live there, a resident had to be a member of the country club. The rules have now changed. “We’ve diversified our very community,” says Leslie Lang, a Realtor with The Keyes Company and a Fountains Country Club resident since 2003. “The new, more inclusive model has made the area more competitive and increased home values throughout the neighborhood.” There are still gated communities in the neighborhood and amenities within each subdivision.

Wide range of prices
Though in a gated community with amenities like a pool, fitness center and golf course views, condos start at $200,000, have two to three bedrooms and between 1,000 and 2,000 square feet. Monthly fees in these communities range from $500 to $700. Some are still 55+ subdivisions. Single-family homes are primarily between $500,000 and $700,000. The Fountains subdivision is a gated community with Mediterranean-style homes with a two-car attached garage. Many were built in the ‘70s and ‘80s and updated with new kitchens, baths and surfaces. Eighty-nine percent of the people in The Fountains Country Club neighborhood are homeowners—a new subdivision of townhouses opened in December of 2023. Lakeshore at The Fountains has four-bedroom units priced between $500,000 and $600,000 with around a $300 monthly homeowners association fee.

The elephant (golf course) in the room
There are plenty of recreation options within gated subdivisions around the golf course. Beyond the gates in the neighborhood’s namesake; three championship courses wind through the neighborhood. Members of the country club can use the golf pro shop and learn from on-site professionals with lessons or guidance on choosing the right equipment. There’s also a massage room, sauna, a resort-style pool, water fitness classes and the Aqua Bar & Grill. The club has a tennis complex featuring 12 clay courts and a tennis pro shop. A few miles north is the 1,700-acre Okeeheelee Park, with a public golf course, canoeing, kayaking and water-skiing on its lakes. There are also 9 miles of equestrian trails, a watersports park and a dog park.

Schools are now top of mind
When the age restriction was lifted for living in this neighborhood, schools became more of a catalyst for living here. The Palm Beach County School District is rated a B-plus overall on Niche. Indian Pines Elementary gets a C-plus, and students will get individualized attention with a 13-to-1 student-teacher ratio. Woodlands Middle School is rated a B-plus on Niche. Parents at this school and throughout the district can access students' schedules, grades and attendance information using the Student Information System Gateway. Santaluces Community High School has a B on Niche and over 2,600 students in grades nine through 12.

Eagle Grill & Oyster Bar on Jog Road is a family owned and operated restaurant that used to be an Irish sports bar before the current owners changed the focus. Convenience to Florida’s Turnpike
The homes that surround The Fountains Country Club are between Florda’s Turnpike and I-95. Taking Florida’s Turnpike south will meet with I-95 in Miami Gardens, about 11 miles north of Miami. The neighborhood is 60 miles north of downtown Miami. Palm Tran has bus lines that stop along Lake Worth and Jog Roads. The Lake Worth Tri-Rail station is 6 miles away.
