Hackettstown hosts Mars Chocolate North America
Home to Mars Chocolate North America, the maker of M&M’s, there’s no doubt that Hackettstown is a sweet place to live. The 10,000 residents of this small town in New Jersey savor the vibrant downtown teeming with independent shops, river access and a lasting sense of community. "When I first started in real estate, I had so many clients who would say ‘I used to live in Hackettstown, I would love to buy a house there. I want to go back,’” says Realtor Patrick Bolger with The Holmquist Group of Keller Williams Metropolitan. Like his clients, Bolger was quickly charmed by Hackettstown. "Now I live here,” he says. “This is a cool place to be.”
Main Street serves as a hub for dining and entertainment
Along Hackettstown’s Main Street, residents will find a cornucopia of locally owned dining and entertainment options. "There are absolutely no chain restaurants,” Bolger says. “It's all local breweries, restaurants, and small businesses.”
Marley's Gotham Grill offers more than 300 flavors of chicken wings, such as Almond Joy, BBQ Honey Garlic and Coca-Cola. TOPO is a local favorite for Vietnamese bubble tea, pho and crab rangoon. And KK's Cafe is a great little spot to grab a latte, fresh croissant or an empanada.
Friends can gather for a craft beer Czig Meister Brewing and then walk roughly 300 feet for a second round at Man Skirt Brewing. “There's a lot on Main Street that people love,” Bolger says. “You can walk around everywhere."
Hackettstown features plenty of familiar chains as well. Weis Markets, Staples and Home Depot are all located at Mansfield Village Square on Route 57.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Hackettstown Street Fair are beloved traditions
In addition to serving as a dining hub, Main Street hosts plenty of events to bring everyone together. There's the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in March and the Hackettstown Street Fair features carnival rides every June. During the summer months, Donaldson Farms on Allen Road offers live music and pony rides on Fridays.
Hackettstown offers a variety of home styles
Homes in Hackettstown come in a myriad of styles, ranging from Cape Cods to farmhouses with airy front porches to Colonial Revivals and colorful Victorians. They typically rest on roomy lots with tidy, trimmed lawns. People out walking their dogs along the sidewalk-lined, leafy streets are a common site in the area.

Hackettstown Public School District schools
Public school students may attend Hatchery Hill Elementary, Hackettstown Middle or Hackettstown High. Part of the Hackettstown Public School District, the middle and high schools score B-minus Niche grades, while the elementary school scores an A-minus. Home of the Tigers, the high school offers free after-school tutoring for English, history, math, science, and English as a second language.

Go out and play at Stephens State Park
For more than 50 years, locals have gathered at the Hackettstown Community Pool to swim, play and cool off from the summer heat. The public retreat on Warren Street features four pools, a dive tank with three diving boards and a snack bar.
At the 805-acre Stephens State Park, on Willow Grove Street, residents can go freshwater fishing in the Musconetcong River, take advantage of the hiking and mountain biking trails, or spend the night under the stars at the campgrounds. Hackettstown Riverfront Park, on Seber Road, offers walking paths and a playground. "You have the town, and then in 10 minutes, you have a farm in every direction,” Bolger says. “It's pretty out here.”
