Westchase

Welcome to Westheimer Road
"Westchase is always growing and changing," says Kasra Persian Grill owner Adam Parsa. "When we opened our store, Books-a-Million was across the Street. Now it's Tesla." His father, Morty, opened the restaurant in 1999. Their most popular dish is the kabab koobideh — a beef skewer kabob served over basmati rice. "Not many people knew about Persian food when we opened, but now people from all walks of life eat here." The grill, several other restaurants, H-E-B, Trader Joe's and the Westchase Shopping Center with its Target, Petco and more are all conveniently located along the city's main thoroughfare Westheimer Road. Westheimer Road also hosts the farmers market on Thursdays. Ashley Barker of PEAS Farm has sold here for its entire 10 year tenure. "I have watched couples raise their kids. It's nice to learn new things about their lives each week. The caring goes both ways." Her biggest hits are pickling cucumbers, yellow squash, and plump tomatoes.Ranch homes on Walnut Bend Lane
Duplexes and apartments are almost everywhere in Westchase to accommodate its high volume of renters. There are also modern townhomes with built-in garages with the occasional palm tree in their yards and modest ranch-style homes on typical suburban streets — some with views of mid-rise industrial glass buildings, like those on Walnut Bend Lane. The most opulent estates reflect Spanish eclectic designs and can reach a price point of $1 million. On the flip side, a one-bedroom, one-bathroom condo begins in the $100,000 price range. The average value of a home in Westchase is around $430,000, and they tend to sell in 49 days.Trails that connect to Art Storey Park
Westchase has several small parks ranging from a quarter of an acre to just over 1 acre. Locals are hungry for more options, leading to the development of new green spaces. Woodchase Park on Woodchase Drive is the newest, with modern playground equipment, a children's library and a dog park. Camden Park, a new 3-acre green space, is set to open on Wildcrest Drive in 2025. It will bring a pavilion for outdoor concerts, among other amenities, including another dog park.Meanwhile, joggers and walkers enjoy Westchase's 5-mile trail system daily. It has several fitness stations built into it with multi-use bars for pull-ups, pushups and more. The trail begins at Westheimer Road and connects the Westchase District to the 33-mile Brays Bayou trail system and the 175-acre Art Storey Park, known for its lakes and tai chi court. Golf lovers head to Royal Oaks Country Club located on its namesake road with several different membership tiers.
Bus stops along Richmond Avenue
The area is somewhat walkable. As locals stroll along the city's streets, they'll notice bright pops of color, as utility boxes have been painted with tiny murals — a part of the city's ongoing beautification projects. Cypress trees and live oaks have also been planted along Westheimer Road. The Westchase Metro Park and Ride has bus stops along that same road, Walnut Bend Lane and Westheimer Road taking locals to over 120 stops in and around Houston. HCA Houston Healthcare West is central along Richmond Avenue. Houston George Bush Intercontinental 30 miles north via Sam Houston Tollway and William P. Hobby is 25 miles southeast along the same route.Alief ISD
Westchase is zoned for both the Alief and Houston Independent School Districts. Within Alief ISD, they may attend Outley Elementary School, O'Donnell Middle School and Alief Early College High School. The elementary and middle schools earn B minus ratings from Niche, while the high school scores an impressive A plus. The high school offers dual credit programs in the arts, communication, philosophy, music, math and more to help students get ahead.
