Wexford Heights offers starter homes
Wexford Heights is a primarily midcentury suburb that attracts homebuyers with its relative affordability and proximity to Lansing, which places residents within a 15-minute drive of healthcare, retail, restaurants and entertainment. “It’s less common for people to come there to settle down,” says Realtor Oddie Sira, who sells homes in the neighborhood with Berkshire Hathaway Real Estate. “These are small starter homes that mainly draw first-time homebuyers.”
Wexford Heights is a compact grid of homes with a nearby park, school, and commercial area.

Houses built from the 1940s through the ‘70s
The median single-family home price is roughly $160,000, which is above Lansing’s median but well below the national median. Prices range from about $60,000 to $180,000. “Most homes in that area do require updates,” Sira says. “Buyers are purchasing those homes, putting sweat equity in, and the values are going up.” Along West Jolly Road, there are multiple single-family houses from the 1940s, but most of the neighborhood consists of ranch styles and split-levels that were constructed during the 1970s.
Most of the homes in Wexford Heights sit on moderatly-sized wooded lots.
More and more of the split-level homes in Wexford Heights have seen recent rennovation.

Sports at Benjamin F. Davis Park
“The atmosphere is great, partially because people have direct access to a park where neighborhood kids can meet up and play,” Sira says. On the community’s east side, Benjamin F. Davis Park’s amenities include a playground, basketball courts, a soccer field and softball fields. Lansing Pathway passes through the park and connects to the 13-mile-long Lansing River Trail, which links several green spaces throughout the city. Just southeast of the neighborhood, Alfreda Schmidt Community Center has a swimming pool, an athletic field, a basketball court and an auditorium.
The paved walking path at Benjamin F Davis Park connects to 13 miles of the Lansing River Trail.
A gym shared between the community center and high school is open to Wexford Heights residents.
