Close to Chicago, closer to the outdoors
Lisle is a western Chicago suburb where nature and modern convenience come together. In 1922, Morton Salt founder Joy Morton chose the location to establish Morton Arboretum, which has grown to a 1,700-acre public garden with more than 4,000 plant species. But thanks to its location at the junction of Interstates 88 and 355, Lisle is also a bustling residential and business-oriented community. “What stands out about the community is the amount of green space and parks, as well as the overall location within DuPage County and proximity to Chicago,” says Jon Pratscher, the Superintendent of Recreation and Marketing with the Lisle Park District.
Lisle is located about a 35 minutes west of downtown Chicago.

Morton Arboretum is Lisle’s best-known attraction. In addition to thousands of trees and a restored prairie, the arboretum has an educational center, miles of trails and an interactive children’s garden.
Independent of the arboretum, Lisle Park District operates a system of more than 20 parks and eight additional facilities that include a community center, recreation center, senior center and River Bend Golf Club. The district also administers a trail system that makes it convenient to travel between parks. “The trails and connectivity in the park system make the area highly desirable,” Pratscher says.
