Abrams is a "nice, small community" north of Green Bay
Abrams, located about 20 miles north of Green Bay, is a quaint bedroom community bordered by the Pensuakee River and surrounded by the natural landscape of northern Wisconsin. Most of its roughly 300 residents live in homes concentrated in the center of the community, which provides convenient access to the town hall, park, elementary school and local Lutheran church. “It’s more of a rural town, a nice, small community,” says Nadine Meacham of Resource One Realty, who has sold several homes there. “People who live there would probably go to Green Bay to work. It’s country living, but still close to the main city.”
Home prices are kept high by the area's appeal
The median sales price is about $430,000. “It’s pretty comparably priced to the areas around it,” Meacham says. “People like that northern area, so the prices are pretty high.” The oldest homes come in a variety of sizes and architectural styles and are mostly found in the center of town. Ranch-style homes are the most common. Newer contemporary homes add to the architectural diversity. Regardless of style, most offer plenty of space, and truncated streets with plenty of trees provide additional privacy. Many of the newer homes sit on 1-acre lots, and a handful of established homes feature several acres of land. Residents can expect summers that are warm and humid but not too hot, and winters with a whole lot of snow. The Green Bay area typically gets more than 50 inches annually.
Community park popular in the summer; golf courses, rivers nearby
Abrams Community Park is a popular place during the summer, as crowds gather to watch community youth play organized baseball and softball. Pine Acres Golf Course is another local attraction. The 9-hole layout is open to the public. Nearby Patriot Golf Club is an 18-hole course open to the public. The volunteer group Friends of Abrams organizes events at the town hall. Signature events include an annual rummage sale and Christmas craft and bake sale. While the Pensaukee River forms the community’s northern border, residents have to travel into the town of Pensaukee to take advantage of the waterway. The Pensaukee Boat Launch on the Bay of Green Bay is about 10 miles away. Residents can also access the Oconto River about 15 miles away. The region’s waterways, which includes Green Bay’s Fox River, are known for their stock of walleye, perch, musky and bass. For more adventures, the hiking and ski trails of the Machickanee Forest are just 10 minutes away.
Residents gather at bars, restaurants on the community's main road
“There are small-town retail stores on the main road and a couple of bars and restaurants,” Meacham says. “Everybody sort of knows each other.” Glovers Bar and Grill is a popular gathering place in the heart of the community. CJ’s Country Club, known for its Friday fish fry, and Timberlea Drive-In, a dessert shop on the river, are other community destinations. Grocers, boutique stores and more restaurants can be found in the nearby towns of Oconto and Oconto Falls, both about 15 miles away. There are several large shopping centers in Green Bay.

The school’s Kid Station program offers after-school daycare services.
Nearby highway provides direct route to Green Bay
The community is car-dependent, and nearby Wisconsin Route 41 offers access to the surrounding region. The highway provides a convenient commute to Green Bay. A drive to the region’s largest city, home to Austin Straubel International Airport, typically takes about 30 minutes. Route 41 also connects residents to the nearby waterfront amenities of Pensaukee and Oconto.
The community’s CAP Index Crime Score of 1 signifies an area with the lowest possible crime rate.
