Originally built as a factory town in the late 19th century, Addyston is a small, family-friendly neighborhood lying just west of Cincinnati along the Ohio River. While the original Addyston Pipe and Steel Company has since moved out, reminders of the past can still be found here today. Many residents work at the nearby INEOS plastic manufacturing facility and century-old homes line the village streets. Situated among rolling, forested hills, residents can admire relics of Addyston’s past, like historic churches and the remains of the CL&A Rail lines, which were all a part of a comprehensive inter-urban rail car station from the 1950s. Today, Addyston is a "Family-oriented community that gets together for fun, local events like the Halloween haunted house, music in the park or Bingo Night at the local VFW," says Chi Coates, a neighborhood local who also owns a popular bar and grill--The Route 50 Saloon--in Addyston. "We're smack-dab in the middle of everything," says Coates, adding that "residents are only about 20 minutes from all the popular attractions of Covington, Lawrenceburg and Cincinnati." Whether headed downtown to visit Cincinnati's Zoo & Botanical Gardens or opting to spend a quiet evening relaxing at home, residents of Addyston, are always "close to the action" while still enjoying the peace and quiet of their suburban neighborhood.
Hidden architectural treasures in Addyston
With an average sales price of about $110,000, homes in Addyston are almost $200,000 dollars less than the surrounding area of Hamilton County. This is because the neighborhood is filled with hidden architectural treasures and repurposed buildings like the century-old United Methodist Church with its classic steeple or Saint Andrew's Episcopal with its beautiful stained-glass windows. Getting around on the Ohio River Scenic Byway
With the Ohio River Scenic Byway, also known as Route 50, passing right through the neighborhood, getting around town is convenient for residents. Addyston is just 13 miles, or about a 20-minute drive, west of Cincinnati. From right out their front door, residents can hop on the byway to head to Covington, Kentucky or Lawrenceburg, Indiana and be at either destination in about 20 minutes. For the closest hospital, residents can head about eight miles north to TriHealth Group Health at Western Ridge, while, for the closest airport, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is about 30 minutes south along Interstate 275.

Getting outside along the Ohio River
To get outside, many residents head to local parks like the Western Wildlife Corridor near South Road and Main Street. Fernbank Park is another popular option in the area. Along a mile of the Ohio River's northern bank, residents can visit this park to walk along the gravel-paved Sycamore nature trail, go fishing in the river or play on the playground.
