Residential and cultural hotspot just minutes from Downtown San Antonio
Located five miles north of downtown San Antonio, Alamo Heights is a booming area with a distinct reputation for its gorgeous residential setting and vast cultural and lifestyle offerings. “It’s a well-established wonderland,” says Cesar Amezcua, a local San Antonian and realtor of 14 years at CA & Company, Realtors. “It’s the all-American dream where everyone wants to live.” Tree-lined, highly manicured neighborhood streets make way for quaint craftsman homes, stately Spanish Revivals and numerous historic properties. Situated along the thriving Broadway Street, Alamo Heights locals are just minutes from some of the best shopping, dining and culture that San Antonio has to offer, including the locally famous McNay Art Museum. “You have a little bit of everything here, and it’s a big community,” Cesar says. “It’s international and very diverse, but also super family-friendly,” Alamo Heights is also well known for its direct central location and its exceptional public school system, providing locals with a desirable residential setting with all of the amenities residents could want in a thriving suburban landscape. “It’s a big community, and there are generations of families that stay here,“ Cesar adds. “It’s a place where you don’t just live, it’s where you want to end up.”

Charming homes in an idyllic tree-lined setting
Alamo Heights showcases an idyllic neighborhood setting. “People drive through the streets just to look at the houses,” says Amezuca. “It’s very dreamy.” Towering, mature trees line the neighborhood’s wide and shaded streets, with well-manicured and landscaped properties that give off a garden home-style allure. Homes here can go from medium-sized to grand and stately, and the architectural makeup is quite varied. “It’s a very diverse community as far as the style of homes, where you have many homes built in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s,” Amezuca says. “You can have a 1940s craftsman home sitting right next to a slick, modern home that was built in 2020.” While craftsman-style homes are the most common, there are also many large colonials, Spanish Revivals and contemporary bungalows accented with quaint front porches. Single-family home prices can range from the high 400,000s for smaller houses to well over 1 million depending on the property’s size and subdivision location. “Entry-level is really high here, and different streets have different values,” Amezuca adds.
