Inez offers plenty to keep busy on Albuquerque's eastern side
Though only one square mile, Inez has more parks than most surrounding communities. Menaul Boulevard and Wyoming Avenue frame the suburb, making locally owned shops and restaurants just a walk away from residents. The Tony Hillerman Public Library also calls the neighborhood home alongside the Buggs Christmas Display, a local holiday favorite. Its location on the city’s eastern side also grants access to the retail options of Uptown ABQ. “It’s a nice community, and because it’s close to the Uptown area, it's also very desirable,” says Voula Chronis, Realtor and associate broker with Coldwell Banker Legacy, who has lived in Albuquerque since 1973.

The neighborhood comprises three parks and a local library
Every home in Inez is within walking distance of a community green space. “It’s not typical to have that many parks in a neighborhood in the Uptown area,” Chronis says. Taylor Park on Indian School Road and Inez Park on Wisconsin Street Northeast are frequented by walkers and provide plenty of tree shade for picnics. Culter Park on the northwestern side has a playground and open space for pick-up games. The community is also home to Tony Hillerman Public Library. Visitors can rent out a new read, enroll in indoor programming or walk through the adjacent Albuquerque Rose Garden, which comes alive in spring with over 1,000 blooms.

Shops and restaurants fill bordering corridors and ABQ Uptown is close by
Menaul Boulevard Northeast spans the community’s northern side, meaning residents don’t have to leave the neighborhood to peruse the shelves of locally owned shops like Charley’s Records & CDs. Several eateries like Relish and Le Chantilly also dot the stretch. Black Angus Steakhouse, known for its prime rib, is directly east on Wyoming Boulevard alongside Walmart Supercenter. Most do their retail shopping at ABQ Uptown, an outdoor shopping mall a half-mile west on Indian School Road. Next door is Trader Joe’s for groceries and the longstanding Winrock Town Center, which the city is transforming into a multi-use development with retailers, parks and event space.

Ranch-style homes sell fast here
Mid-20th-century ranch-style homes fill Inez’s residential landscape. These properties sit back from the community’s wide residential streets on quarter-acre lots intermingling with old-growth oak and evergreen trees. Almost all have brick-clad exteriors, two-car driveways and pebbled front lawns, a feature synonymous with Albuquerque communities. Prices typically range from $260,000 to $425,000, depending on size and condition. “It’s an up-and-coming neighborhood, so people will buy and fix them up,” Chronis says. “They don’t last on the market long.”

Bugg Christmas Display rings in the holiday season
During the holiday season, a home on Hoffman Drive Northeast glows with thousands of Christmas lights. Dubbed the Bugg Christmas Display by locals, the attraction became so popular that the city shut it down in 2002 after producing too much traffic. However, after continuous demand from those who made the stop an annual tradition, the display made its much-anticipated return in 2024.
