A small town 3 miles from downtown Allentown
Three miles from downtown Allentown, Rittersville's bungalows and brick American Foursquares settle within a walkable, urban-suburban landscape where sidewalks have weathered countless footsteps. While everyday needs are nearby, Rittersville doesn't have a robust dining or shopping scene. The most local eateries all settle on Hanover Street, steps from neighborhood homes. Maria Al Kaii opened Syriana Mediterranean Grill about 3 years ago, and she describes her customers as friends. "It's a small town, so everyone supports each other." They stop by on their lunch breaks from work, and their favorite menu item is her Chicken Shawarma. Railroad tracks from the now defunct Allentown station line Rittersville's southern border. Parallel to them is the rushing Lehigh Valley River.
Brick foursquare homes are not an uncommon sight along residential streets in Rittersville.

Architectural variety in Rittersville
Most homes were built in the '20s and link closely together, featuring short walk-ups to small porches. Some are lined with slivers of green grass, but most do not have spacious front or back yards. Here, a Colonial Revival might sit next to a ranch-style home across the street from a cottage and an American Foursquare. Rittersville also has a fair share of townhomes and duplexes. Many properties here are in need of love and care and could be considered investment opportunities. Most are in the $200,000 range and rarely rise higher than around $350,000. Entry points can be as low as $180,000 for a duplex.

Hunting at Lehigh Mountain Park
Lehigh Mountain Park is south of Rittersville. "The park is primarily forest," says Robert Stiffler, Director of Parks for Lehigh Valley. "There are no picnic areas or anything like that. It's pretty much just saved open green space." It does contain mountain trails, and certain sections are open for hunting. Stiffler says there is no immediate plan for developing the area. This park encompasses Walking Purchase Park, and it's next to industrial facilities and the Lehigh County Men's Community Corrections Center. There are a few pocket parks nearby, including Andre Reed Park, which is used by Allentown City School District athletes and marching band practices. The school is actively planning renovations for the park in coordination with the city.
