Altamonte Springs has everything

Altamonte Springs may be just 11 miles north of Orlando, but proximity to a sprawling metropolis is not the main draw for this city of 46,000. Residents have found this place provides everything they need, from abundant shopping and dining to innovative public transportation to health care in one of the state’s top-tier hospitals. “We have been ranked the best city for young professionals and the best city where you can just live on social security,” says the Altamonte Springs City Manager Frank Martz.

Its European-style plaza includes a choreographed water fountain show and the Eddie Rose Amphitheater, which holds regular events throughout the year. Sanlando Park is another favorite and offers traditional amenities like a basketball court and walking trail, but it is perhaps best known for its many lighted tennis courts. The smaller Merrill Park is a go-to for baseball and softball games and offers a playground for smaller kids.
