Amarillo Independent School District is a District of Innovation

Park Terrace is part of the Amarillo Independent School District, which gets an A-minus on Niche and has around 30,000 children. A Texas District of Innovation, the AISD is afforded some of the same flexibilities as a charter school and has more say in its curriculum. Students can start their education at Eastridge Elementary School. Middle school is divided between Travis Sixth Grade Campus for sixth grade and Travis Middle School before potentially advancing to Palo Duro High School, which sponsors varsity athletic sports, including baseball, girls’ and boys’ basketball and dance. All four campuses get a B from Niche.

Using Eastridge School Park after school

Residents will have to drive to the closest parks, but multiple nearby options exist. Eastridge School Park is adjacent to the elementary school and provides ample open space encircled by a paved walking trail, a playground and basketball courts. Thompson Memorial Park, one of Amarillo’s largest parks, is about 4 miles west of the neighborhood. It offers a renovated community pool, disc golf course and walking paths surrounding its fishing ponds. The Amarillo Zoo and Wonderland Amusement, a privately-owned amusement park with more than 30 attractions, calls the green space home. International flavors on Amarillo Boulevard

The United Supermarkets on East Amarillo Boulevard for weekly groceries. The roadway is also known as Historic U.S. Route 66. “Amarillo Boulevard has a lot of good cultural restaurants,” says Taylor Mangiameli, a Realtor with Wellborn Real Estate, who was born and raised in the city. “They have good Thai, Asian and Mexican spots, and also give the area access to shopping.” Golden Lotus is known for Thai Food, while Sanchez Bakery serves Mexican bread, has two Amarillo locations and offers a full menu of Mexican favorites. Being about 5 miles from downtown, residents can check out the city’s entertainment options.
