South Amarillo neighborhood bordering major city thoroughfares
The story of South Georgia-Shores starts with its location. With Interstate 27 making up its western border and main throughfares South Georgia Street and Southwest 45th Avenue cutting through it, residents can quickly get anywhere in the city. Once inside this established neighborhood, potential homebuyers will find homes from the '60s and '70s that are zoned in the highly rated Amarillo Independent School District and have access to a community park. “It’s a growing area,” says Jinger White, a Realtor with ERA Courtyard Real Estate with nearly 20 years of experience in the Amarillo market. “Most of the development is commercial, and some new restaurants have started to pop up towards the neighborhood's southern end.”

Smaller brick ranch-style houses and bungalows
Wide neighborhood streets have mature landscapes, which isn’t guaranteed in every Amarillo neighborhood. Brick ranch-style houses and bungalows range from just under 1,000 square feet to just a tad over 2,000 square feet. Properties rest on compact lots with neat front yards and feature driveways and attached garages. Most homes sell for around $115,000 to just under $300,000, with larger homes costing a bit more. “The market seems a little slow right now,” White says. “Showings seem to be down, but it ebbs and flows. The market is still moving, but it could be doing better.”
