A family-friendly suburb
Bloomington Heights is full of families, according to Realtor Ryan Gehling, who sells homes in Bloomington Heights with Keller Williams Ames. “It’s a great place to be. It’s close to a grocery store, a mall and parks.” The highly rated public schools are an additional draw for homebuyers. The cozy Ames suburb is also close to pastoral scenery. Because of its location on the suburban outskirts of the city, residents can drive just north to see John Deere combines harvesting acres of crops while conveyors load grain into silos.

Contemporary-style houses and condos
The neighborhood was developed from the early 1990s through the early 2000s, and well-manicured lawns have enough space for above-ground pools and patios. Streetlights illuminate the sidewalks, and train tracks run past the neighborhood’s west side. However, Realtor Mike Purcell, who sells property in the neighborhood with Friedrich Realty, says that few trains run on the tracks. “The homes are priced for young families trying to buy their first home or even trying to get a bigger home,” he says. New Traditional ranch and contemporary styles, many with attached garages, range in price from $290,000 to $435,000. On Bloomington Heights’ north end, early 2000s townhouses with garages and condos are priced from $250,000 to $370,000.
