Hermosa Village puts Disneyland, dining and freeways close to home
If you’ve ever dreamt of living next to Disneyland, Anaheim’s urban-suburban Hermosa Village welcomes you home. "Here you're about a mile from the Magic Kingdom, with lots of Orange County-affordable housing," says Anaheim Realtor Megan Shigo, "plus a bunch of authentic, independent restaurants and plenty of community recreation." It's only a mile's journey to the 5 freeway; 26 miles to Downtown Los Angeles; and 15 miles to both Irvine and Huntington Beach.
Housing varies from large ranch-style properties to manufactured homes
Here you’ll commonly see midcentury ranch-style homes averaging $950,000 for three or four bedrooms and up to three baths on lots ranging from 7,000 to 9,000 square feet. If a condo’s more your style, you could spend between $700,000 and $750,000 (plus a monthly HOA of about $250) for a large town house built between the late ‘70s and the mid-2000s. In the all-ages Del Prado Mobile Home Park (which includes a swimming pool and clubhouse), a four-bedroom, two-bath unit from the late ‘60s costs $150,000. You’ll find lots of apartment complexes at the northern end of the neighborhood, with monthly rents starting around $1,600.
Local parks include spaces for softball, skating and strolling
The largest community green spaces are 9-acre Stoddard Park, where an exercise circuit will help you raise your heart rate, and 7-acre Palm Lane Park, home to a popular skatepark; both parks include modern, colorful playgrounds, open lawns and daytime softball fields. The eco-friendly, 2 ½-acre Energy Field Park celebrates water-saving technologies and landscaping with a synthetic-turf open play area, as well as picnic shelters and a paved walking track. Just north is the public, 18-hole Dad Miller Golf Course, where you can stroll past a lake on the fairway, hit a few balls on the driving range and toast a good game at the on-site bar and grill.
Restaurants serve diverse cuisines, from Vietnamese to Mexican
You won’t find a fancy meal here, but you certainly won’t go hungry, either. Authentic is the keyword, from Vietnamese bahn mi and spring rolls at Tan Hoang Huong to Mexican molcajetes and barbacoa at Taqueria Don Victor, along with Laotian sausages and fresh oysters at Fresh Ocean Wholesale Market. For a family-sized Chinese and Japanese feast, head to Teppanyaki Grill Supreme Buffet, which includes all-you-can-eat crab legs and sushi rolls. Your main local grocery store is Food4Less, with an outpost of area chain Northgate Market just north, where you’ll find fresh produce, Central American products, and premade Mexican meals. Just southwest along Chapman Avenue in Garden Grove you’ll find shopping centers with Walmart, Sprouts and a Regal movie theater, as well as Thai, Middle Eastern and Korean eateries.
Anaheim schools aim to foster creativity and leadership

Students here often continue to schools that are rated an overall 3/10: Ball Junior High, with a comprehensive emphasis on the visual and performing arts; and Loara High, where programs include Asian Cultural Club, Junior Statesmen of America and the International Baccalaureate diploma.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
