Southeast Anaheim is so close to the iconic Disneyland Park that you might worry that spending time with Mickey Mouse is all there is to do here. But this bustling neighborhood is overflowing with events and recreational opportunities that extend well beyond the Magic Kingdom. Like much of Anaheim, Southeast Anaheim evolved from its initial agricultural beginnings as vineyards and citrus groves to a neighborhood that expanded rapidly following the opening of Disneyland in the mid-1950s and is still growing and transforming into a resident- and tourist-friendly environment. "There's loads to do, obviously, from the breweries to the theme parks and sports venues," says Brittnie Aver, Realtor with First Team Real Estate and long-time resident. “But I think the best part about living here is it’s America’s melting pot in such a good way. You have a lot of people from different cultures coming together and hanging out and just enjoying SoCal. It’s a really great place.”

A mix of renters and homeowners reside in Southeast Anaheim, and options for single-family homes consist primarily of midcentury-era bungalows and ramblers, with some older Craftsman builds throughout the neighborhood. They sit on lots that, while a bit small, offer plenty of space for front yards with landscaping and backyards with pools or patios. Many of the streets end in cul-de-sacs, which cut down on traffic and noise and are lined with sidewalks and tall, shady trees — perfect for an afternoon stroll. Prices range from $585,000 for 960 square feet to $1.3 million for 2,800 square feet. If you’re looking for condos or town houses, you can find them ranging from $560,000 for 1,200 square feet to $1.1 million for 1,900 square feet and boasting amenities like private garages, low HOA fees and, for units closest to Disneyland, views of nighttime fireworks.

Children attending public school may begin their education at Roosevelt Elementary, then continue to South Junior High and Katella High. Katella High serves approximately 2,700 students from ninth to twelfth grade and has a B- on Niche. It also allows students to earn college credit through dual enrollment courses, thanks to its collaboration with Fullerton College.

When it comes to parks, Southeast Anaheim has many options. One of the largest in the neighborhood is Boysen Park, off South State College Boulevard. This 25-acre green space is affectionately known as “Airplane Park” thanks to the US Navy Cougar jet airplane that’s been a permanent fixture since 1959. It sits alongside the park’s larger play area and is safe for children to play on and in — they can sit in the cockpit. The park also offers multiple ball fields, tennis courts, a volleyball court, and picnic tables and barbecues, perfect for gathering friends and family for a day outside in the sunshine.

You won't have to look far when you're looking for something to do. Try out Ballast Point Brewing Company in Downtown Disney or venture out to Karl Strauss Brewing Company before heading across the street to catch an Angels game at Angel Stadium. When you’re in the mood for live music, the popular House of Blues at Anaheim GardenWalk, has greeted visitors with performances by nationally known artists and tasty Southern-inspired food. More delicious cuisine awaits at the Anaheim Packing District, where local vendors represent a massive fusion of cultures and tastes. And, if you're looking to spend some time with Mickey Mouse, Disneyland is so close you could probably walk to it.

Southeast Anaheim is where the magic of a globally renowned theme park melds with the everyday joys of suburban living. It's where the past and the present merge, promising a future that's as bright as the Southern California sun.
