A mountain escape on the edge of Anchorage
Surrounded by nature on two sides, Scenic Foothills is a popular neighborhood for outdoors lovers, providing an easy escape into the mountains. "One of the things that people love about it is that it butts up against the mountains, and there's wilderness right there. Nobody can build here," says Casey Knight, an associate broker with Real Estate Brokers of Alaska who has sold several homes in the neighborhood. "There's a bunch of trails through the neighborhood, and then on the south side, it ties into Campbell Airstrip Road and the Science Center. It's one of the better residential areas in Anchorage." This residential community is largely secluded but is situated at the Tudor-Muldoon Curve, where Tudor Road becomes Muldoon Road. The location on a major city road gives residents easy access to amenities like shopping, dining and commuting while allowing them to feel cut off from the rest of the city when they're at home.

Homebuyers in Scenic Foothills can find new traditional and ranch-style homes on suburban, tree-lined streets. Christina Barron, a Realtor with Real Broker Alaska, says buyers can get more bang for their buck here. "It's an older, more established area so you get a bigger yard and homes with more character. You get the benefit of mountain views and trails that you don't get in other areas at this price point," she says. Most homes are listed for between $350,000 and $550,000. Houses are typically three or four bedrooms and range from 1,800 to 3,000 square feet. There are a few condos in the area that typically come on the market between $200,000 and $300,000. It's a very quite neighborhood, not much goes on. Nice houses. It's not very diverse, but it could be. There are a few Trump Supporters. When political season was going on there was a 50/50 spilt if who was Dem or Rep.
