Living in Anchorage
Named after the Anchorage estate of riverboat captain James W. Goslee, the City of Anchorage appreciates its rich history. At the center of the town stands the rumored anchor from Goslee’s ship, the Metamora. Just 18 miles from downtown Louisville, Anchorage boasts diverse architectural styles, meandering walking trails through the center of town and the conveniences of suburban living. “Eastern Louisville is an extremely popular area, drawing residents and families due to its proximity to expressways, nearby amenities and highly-ranked schools,” says Becky Lusch, a Louisville local realtor for over 15 years at Keller Williams Realty.
Anchorage is on the Northeast side of Jefferson County, Kentucky, 18 miles from Louisville.

Homes in the area are architecturally eclectic, with some residents living in ranch-style homes and others opting for more extravagant, custom-built mansions on spacious lots scattered with picturesque dogwood, oak, and magnolia trees. The median sales price for a single-family home hovers around $600,000, while locals enjoy large lots just under an acre. Homes around town sell within 17 days on the market, compared to the national average of 41 days. “It’s no wonder that we have houses that sell on their first day on the market,” Lusch says. Prospective homebuyers can score anything from a small ranch-style home for $220,000, a stately colonial with an open floor plan and hardwood floors for $600,000, or a custom-built home with a three-car garage sitting on 1.6 acres for $1.7 million.
