Once referred to as the Olde Farm area, Anderson Creek transitioned from open spaces to subdivisions and a golf course. Mobile homes mostly populated the land until the Anderson Creek Golf Resort and Country Club opened in 2001, creating space for 850 houses. Anderson Creek was listed as a census-designated place for the first time in 2020 and reported a population of over 13,000— the largest community in Harnett County. Part of the area’s growth can be attributed to those wanting to live close to the military institutions, including Fort Bragg.

Newly built homes lower than the national median
The majority of Anderson Creek homes were built in the last two decades, with many new homes still in the process of being built. Anderson Creek Club is a gated community with 20 neighborhoods on 1,700 acres. Homes here tend to sit closer together than in other subdivisions. Single-family homes in Anderson Creek sell for a median price of $330,000, significantly lower than the national median. Homes spend about 38 days on the market, compared to the national average of 45 days. Condos range from $185,000 to just over $300,000.

Disc golf at Anderson Creek County Park
The first two phases of Anderson Creek County Park equipped the park with a disc golf course, playground and hiking trails. There are further plans to add equestrian trails, an education center and interactive nature activities. The green spaces host Storytime in the Park. The area also has a large hunting preserve, home to such wildlife as pheasants and quails. The Anderson Creek Senior Center offers several programs for citizens over 50, including a shuffleboard and a community garden. The golf course at Anderson Creek Club is open to the public and provides 18 holes and a 10,000-square-foot putting green.

Harnett County Schools and Anderson Creek Academy
Harnett County Schools receives a C-plus overall grade on Niche. The district serves over 20,0000 students in 28 schools. Anderson Creek Primary is a B-rated elementary school that serves preschoolers through second graders and has a student-teacher ratio of 14 to 1. High schoolers are typically zoned for Overhills High, which earns a B-minus score.
