Attracting the finest and brightest
Set back from the road behind mature trees and rows of perennials, the homes of Ann Arbor Hills are some of the most coveted in Ann Arbor. “What makes the neighborhood so special are the large homes and lots,” says Realtor Rick Taylor with The Charles Reinhart Company, its number one individual Realtor. “Jim Harbaugh, the football coach, has a home here. That’s how desirable the neighborhood is.” Close to the downtown and the University of Michigan, the Ann Arbor Hills community is also distinctly international and highly educated, like the city itself. “I grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia,” Taylor says, “and Ann Arbor has some of the finest and brightest people from all over the world.”

A mix of impressive homes
Well-maintained Cape Cods, stately colonials, and eye-catching midcentury modern houses peek out from greenery along roadways and around bends, many with large additions and garages added on throughout the years. The yards and gardens in Ann Arbor Hills are extraordinary — secluded brick patios look out onto deep lawns and tree lines. Many homes feature working fireplaces and sunporches, ways of bringing old-world comfort into everyday living. “The neighborhood has its share of classic homes,” Taylor says. “It’s an eclectic group, though, from impressively large ranch-style homes to even larger colonials to brand new construction from homes being torn down and new ones built.” For even the smallest home measuring 2,500 square feet, buyers can expect to pay $700,000. Buyers can expect to pay up to $1.6 million for renovated properties with the most square footage.
