Rapidly growing city outside the edge of the Metroplex
Sitting halfway between Dallas and the Oklahoma state line is Anna, an old rail town in the northern corner of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The suburban city attracts homebuyers looking to escape the urban sprawl of Dallas. With a population of about 27,000, the community has seen significant growth compared to the 2020 census population of nearly 17,000. The cost of housing is lower than the county average and lower than other suburban communities closer to the Metroplex. Many people appreciate the slower pace, affordable housing, and the sense that it’s a city on the rise," says Frances La Rue, The Public Affairs Manager with the City of Anna. The city’s primary employers are the hospitals and service industries.
