College-town charm meets small-town tradition in Annville
Annville is a vibrant college community anchored by a mom-and-pop-oriented town center and Lebanon Valley College. In the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, this suburb is growing alongside neighboring Lebanon, yet residents are holding onto the small-town elements that make Annville unique. "It's more of a younger, hip area that has a fun vibe and lots of places where you can just hang out," says Thomas Bechtold, Realtor and team lead at Re/Max Pinnacle.

Historic homes and new construction
Several 18th- through 20th-century homes, including decorative Queen Annes, Georgian dwellings, duplexes and vernacular stone houses, are still standing throughout Annville. Historic property owners may need approval from the local architectural review board for external home renovations. On Annville's south side, the up-and-coming Mayapple Woods community has new townhouses and Meadows at Bachman Run features new single-family properties. The median home price is about $360,000, higher than neighboring Lebanon and lower than Hershey. New construction prices are often above the median. South-side homes near the Quittapahilla River may have a higher flood risk.

Local shops and nightlife on Main Street
Residents appreciate the local focus on Main Street, says Bechtold. Casual bars, restaurants, thrift stores, boutiques and coffee shops are among the brick and stone storefronts. The recently-revamped Corvette Bar and Grille has been a hot spot since the 1990s, according to Bechtold. Locals enjoy tap beer, burgers and wings and occasional karaoke and trivia nights. The Allen Theatre is an early 20th-century landmark that hosts local bands, tribute shows, comedy acts and classic film screenings. It also has a coffee shop and a bookstore. Giant is a nearby grocery option in Cleona, and Asian Oriental specializes in Nepali and Indian products.

The Annville Youth League manages baseball, basketball, cheerleading, football, t-ball and wrestling teams for kids, and the Annville Senior Community Center offers programs from Monday through Friday. Residents utilize the gym and fitness classes at the college's sports center. About 10 miles west, the town of Hershey is the headquarters of the namesake candy company and its amusement park. Commuters can take U.S. Route 422 and Lebanon Transit buses
Downtown residents can walk to Main Street, but others may rely on cars and public transportation. U.S. Route 422 provides an east-west route through the area. Lebanon Transit buses also stop along that road. Harrisburg has an international airport about 20 miles west. Fort Indiantown Gap, a National Guard training center and one of the area's biggest employers, is about 10 miles north. WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, another leading employer and healthcare provider, is nearby in Lebanon.
