Community events in Danville
For Wagner, the community events held in Montour County are a major benefit of living in the area. “I love our annual traditions, such as the Danville Heritage Festival held in September, the spring fling held in May, the elk Toss held in February and especially all of the holiday festivities each December.” The Danville Heritage Festival celebrates the town’s history each September with living history demonstrations, historic tours, train rides and live music. The Annual Spring Fling is held in Danville each May, and it has over 200 food and artisan vendors alongside live music. To honor a tradition of “elk tossing” established by early German immigrants in Pennsylvania, the people of Danville gather each winter to toss figures of elk created with burlap and wooden limbs.
