Rural woodlands and small town amenities

Antrim is a rural neighborhood between Concord and Keene that’s surrounded by woodlands and several lakes – residents don’t have to travel far from the town center for an outdoor adventure. “It’s a smaller community, but it’s got very strong community groups,” says Realtor Charles Boucher with EXP Realty, who has over 15 years of experience. Antrim may be a small town, but its residents have plenty to do.

Colonials and farmhouses

Antrim has a variety of homes, though most are older and located near the town center. Historic Colonials and traditional two-story homes are very spacious with 3,000 to 4,000 square feet and can go for anywhere between $325,000 and $575,000. These properties are brightly colored and sometimes come with farmhouse features like front porches and garages. For something smaller, homebuyers can find Cape Cods, split levels and ranch-style homes for $300,000 to $575,000. Some areas in the neighborhood have modern condos. Out in the country, regular farmhouses with barns that come with acres of land can cost around $280,000 to $680,000.

Antrim's woodland trails and lakes

The natural landscape surrounding Antrim creates plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. “Antrim has a wonderful recreation program with great facilities, plus there’s a nice town beach and a beautiful lake. All kinds of hiking trails too,” Boucher says. The town beach is found on Gregg Lake, where the sandy shoreline has a shallow area for swimming. There’s a watercraft launch on the beach for those who want to go canoeing or kayaking out on the water, and summer programs often take place. When it comes to trails, hikers have a few options. Tamposi Trail goes around Willard Pond, and two trailheads for McCabe Forest are located along Concord Street. Within Antrim’s town center, Memorial Park serves as a traditional neighborhood green space, giving residents a place to take their little ones to a playground or toss a frisbee on a field. Challenge friends to a game of tennis or practice skills at the skate park.

Shops on Antrim's Main Street

While Antrim’s town is small, it still has a few commercial stores and local restaurants for its residents to enjoy along Main Street. When shopping for essentials, Antrim Marketplace is a specialty grocery store that has prepared meals in addition to fresh meat and produce. There’s also a town library, barber shop and Edmund’s Ace Hardware. When it comes to food, Flag Leaf Bakery is known for its cruffins and freshly baked loaves of bread. Rick & Diane’s Brick Oven Pizzeria down the street serves savory slices and casual Italian dishes. For more retail and restaurant options, residents will travel either 26 miles to Keene or 30 miles to Concord. “Every couple of weeks people go to one of those towns for all their shopping,” Boucher says. Both have name-brand stores like Kohl’s and Hannaford that people may need, plus several local restaurants and fast-food chains.

Attending Contoocook Valley schools

Families living in the area can send their children to schools within the Contoocook Valley School District. Antrim Elementary School may have a C grade on Niche, but its various partnerships with non-profits can teach kids about conservation and gardening. Great Brook School is the middle school and has a C-plus Niche grade. From there, students can attend Conval Regional High School. With its B-minus Niche grade, Applied Technology Center and over 30 clubs and student activities, the school helps its students thrive.

Routes 9 and 202

As spread out as Antrim is, residents rely on their own vehicles to get around. US Route 202 runs from north to south through the neighborhood, and New Hampshire Route 9 runs across it, giving people plenty of places to hop on and get where they need to go. Roughly 5 miles away, Hawthorne-Feather Airpark is a private airport that those with personal planes can use for recreational flying.

Antrim's Harvest Festival

According to Boucher, Antrim has a brand-new Harvest Festival that takes place in the fall. The annual event starts with a parade, has several local vendors and live music and ends with fireworks – the goal is to bring the community together.
