A densely packed neighborhood with a lake and community pool
Cobblestone Lake is a neighborhood in the town of Apple Valley, a Twin Cities suburb. Formerly a farming community, Apple Valley began taking off in the 1950s and its development continues today. This later development has led to thoughtfully designed neighborhoods with walking paths, community amenities and shared green space. Cobblestone Lake tends to be multi-generational – it’s popular with young families, empty nesters and seniors. There is both a newly built senior living facility and a memory care facility. This more modern neighborhood surrounds a man-made lake of the same name. The lake, formerly a gravel pit, now anchors all types of community recreation. Excellent schools and the CAP Index Crime Score of 2, below the national average of 4, make it a good place to raise a family. Cobblestone Lake offers a quiet community away from the hustle and bustle of city life but still maintains easy access to the attractions of the Twin Cities
Neatly organized subdivisions make up Cobblestone Lake
The Cobblestone Lake neighborhood is densely packed with subdivisions and townhouse communities. According to Realtor Nicole Junker of Pemberton Homes, the townhomes typically have more available inventory than single-family homes. Though most homes here date back to the early 2000s, their architecture isn’t uniform. There are Craftsman homes in a range of colors, some with shingles and others with vinyl siding. American Foursquares, colonial revivals, bungalows and ranch-style homes can also be found. The yards are typically on the smaller side, but well-kept. Single-family homes have yards big enough for a patio and seating area, but too small for a trampoline or pool. Townhouses may or may not have a private outdoor area. Landscaped medians accented with rocky gardens and small trees sit between the streets. The townhouse communities each feel like a little neighborhood of their own, often taking up entire streets. There are pockets of large townhouse complexes exhibiting different styles or color palettes. Single-family homes typically sell from $500,000 - $700,000. Townhouses go for less, with prices ranging from $280,000 - $500,000. Proximity to the lake doesn’t have a significant impact on price.
Modern colonial revivals are evident along the streets of Cobblestone Lake.
Cobblestone Lake is also home to residences inspired by Victorian-era design.

Walk, paddle or fish on Cobblestone Lake
Cobblestone Lake itself is the neighborhood’s centerpiece. Residents can walk their dogs or jog the 1.5-mile paved trail encircling the lake. Canoeing and kayaking are popular lake activities, as is fishing for walleye. “You see people fishing year-round,” Junker says. “Even in the winter you’ll see people out there ice fishing.” A gazebo near the water provides cover for residents looking to relax in the evenings and watch the sunset. On warm summer days, many Cobblestone Lake residents go to the private community pool to cool off. During the cooler seasons, Burnsville Center is about 7 miles away. There’s shopping, dining and entertainment, such as a movie theater and Chuck E. Cheese.
Ample walking paths are found throughout Apple Valley, many with lakeside views.
Couples can often be found walking the paths in Cobblestone Lake.

Regional chains aplenty for residents
Cobblestone Lake doesn’t have many local businesses, but plenty of regional chains exist to meet the community’s needs. For a quick pick-me-up in the morning, folks can stop by Caribou Coffee, a regional chain founded in nearby Edina. Crisp & Green offers salads and grain bowls for lunch, and Crooked Pine Ale serves up its famed “Juicy Lucy” burger for dinner. For the uninitiated, a Juicy Lucy is a cheeseburger with the cheese (and other toppings) stuffed inside the burger patty. Both Hy-Vee and Target are just a mile away. Three Dog Bakery sells the usual food and treats for pets, but pet owners can also order a custom dog-friendly birthday cake.
You'll find many Cobblestone Lake residents shopping at Target for groceries and home goods.
HyVee is a popular place for Cobblestone Lake residents to do their weekly shop.
