Two popular shopping centers are just a few miles south
Around 2 miles southwest, the shopping area surrounding 150th Street West and Cedar Avenue offers various chain restaurants, services and retail like Burlington, Half Price Books and Walmart Supercenter. Locals also head 5 miles south to 160th Street West, where a shopping center with Target and Hy-Vee has sprung up in recent years. “It’s part of how quickly everything’s evolving in the area,” says Hartig. “Around 15 years ago, it was all farmlands out there. Now there’s a ton of shopping, food, everything.” Ole Piper offers laid-back food in a family friendly atmosphere. Though their menu is varied, their specialty is pizza, with deep-dish, Chicago-style and gluten-free options.
