North Central Arlington borders the entertainment district and I-30
North Central Arlington borders Arlington's entertainment district, where millions of annual visitors attend Dallas Cowboys or Texas Rangers games, ride roller coasters at Six Flags over Texas, and enjoy an array of entertainment options at Texas Live! Still, North Central Arlington is home to cozy subdivisions just off Interstate 30 and between Dallas and Fort Worth, which make it a smart choice for area commuters. The community's many conveniences, such as several schools, shops and a hospital, offer a balance between work and play — and its appeal is evident to both residents and the many visitors who stay in short-term rentals.
Shopping, dining and entertainment options keep expanding
AT&T Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys NFL team, and Globe Life Field, home to the Texas Rangers MLB team, are among the many major entertainment venues within walking distance of North Central Arlington, and the area continues to see new investment. "We just opened The National Medal of Honor Museum. It's huge. It's amazing," says Kelsey Hicks, an Arlington native and Realtor at Austin Realty Consultants. Residents also don't need to go far for daily errands: Walmart Supercenter is just outside the neighborhood, and Lincoln Square shopping center has mainstays like PetSmart and Michaels. Lincoln Square is slated for redevelopment, with plans for a new shopping center called Anthem to begin construction in 2026. A mile south is the center of town, home to The University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington Public Library, casual restaurants like Twisted Root Burger Co. and hangouts like The Tipsy Oak.
Mix of modest single-family homes and apartments
North Central Arlington has a mix of single-family homes and apartments. "All along I-30, you have more of your apartments. It's a big commuter area. People go to Irving, Grapevine, the airport, Dallas and Fort Worth," Hicks says. Wide, flat residential streets weave through the area's winding subdivisions, and mature trees offer shade in modestly sized front yards. Popular single-family styles include brick-front ranch-style homes and cottages built between the 1950s and '70s. Most houses sell for between $150,000 and $600,000. The eastern side of North Central Arlington is in the town's short-term rental zone. Short-term rentals in this area are popular because visitors and residents can walk to the AT&T Stadium and other attractions.
Students have school choice within the Arlington ISD
Neighborhood students may begin at Webb Elementary School, which has a C-plus grade from Niche and is within walking distance for some households, before continuing to B-minus-rated Nichols Junior High School and B-rated Lamar High School. Although students are zoned for specific schools in the Arlington Independent School District, it's an open enrollment district, meaning students can transfer to different schools in Arlington if they choose. These include magnet schools like the kindergarten through sixth grade Wimbish World Language Academy, which has a B from Niche and is in the neighborhood. This school offers an immersive dual-language program where students can take classes in French or Spanish alongside English.
Major recreation areas like River Legacy Park nearby
Just west, Randol Mill Park has a playground and athletic facilities, including baseball fields and tennis courts. Locals cool off during Arlington's hot summer months at the park's aquatic center, which has an outdoor pool with a lazy river, water slides and shade pavilions. River Legacy Park, about 3 miles north, has 18 total miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. Visitors enjoy views of the Trinity River, wooded areas and wetlands in this 1,300-acre park.
I-30 borders the community
Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital is in the neighborhood, and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is 13 miles north. I-30 borders North Central Arlington to the north and takes commuters 15 miles west to downtown Fort Worth and 20 miles east to downtown Dallas. Although many neighborhood residents are able to walk to Walmart, stadiums, the hospital and several schools, Arlington does not have a public transportation system, meaning errands in the surrounding area typically require a car.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
