Cape Saint Claire

Houses vary from starter homes to luxury waterfront estates
Cape St. Claire’s houses are often ranch-style, split-level or new traditional homes. “Because of the prices, there are still some first-time homebuyers, but also people who have lived there their whole lives,” Garza says. “It’s a good mix. You can get a starter home for $400,000 all the way up to the luxury waterfront homes that are $2 million.” She says the market here is competitive. “We’re seeing multiple offers on homes, and there’s not a lot of inventory, for sure.” Streets in Cape St. Claire lack sidewalks, but they’re quiet and tree-lined, keeping daily walks or runs shaded.Cape Saint Claire's CAP Index crime score is 3 out of 10, slightly below the national average of 4.

Boating is big in Cape St. Claire, with many residents moving here just to access its amenities. “You can launch your boat in this area, and you can’t always do that in other communities,” Garza says. “That’s what makes it so amazing.” Residents without private docks keep their boats at one of the area’s marinas, and the neighborhood has a small private beach and playground just off River Bay Road for swimming and sunbathing. Cape St. Claire Swim Club, a local pool, is another popular spot for locals to hang out when the weather gets hot. The Cape St. Claire Recreation Area offers basketball courts alongside soccer and softball fields. The Goshen Farm Preservation Society is a local organization dedicated to preserving its historic 22 acres, where locals can explore a short trail. For a larger beach and views of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, residents can drive 4 miles to the nearly 800-acre Sandy Point State Park.Shops, restaurants at Cape St. Claire Plaza and nearby downtown Annapolis
Cape St. Claire Plaza features larger retailers like Ace Hardware and Subway in the same row of storefronts as smaller mom-and-pop shops like Graul’s Market, where residents have picked up fresh produce and family recipes since 1920. Residents can start their days with coffee and breakfast at Blue Rooster Café and later enjoy margaritas and fajitas at Broadneck Grill & Cantina or pasta and wine at Della Notte. For a little extra excitement, residents can drive 8 miles to downtown Annapolis, where they can shop at local boutiques, visit museums and enjoy waterfront restaurants and bars.Strawberry Festival and the Goshen Farm highlight local events
The neighborhood’s lineup of annual events includes Easter egg hunts, a Fourth of July parade and trick-or-treating. The neighborhood’s biggest event, though, is the Strawberry Festival, which has been a tradition for over 60 years. With free admission, the festival offers live music, food and craft vendors, a parade and much more. Throughout the year, the Goshen Farm hosts events like small concerts, wine tastings and an environmental festival that features face painting, games and music.Quick to reach Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge
