Oxford
Ashley's historic downtown homes
The yellow and green hues of growing corn run alongside the narrow roads, which lead to homes dotted along each. US-42 runs north to south and cuts through the center of Oxford, carrying residents into the village of Ashley. Houses in this part of the neighborhood sit closer together and take the form of Foursquare and several unique styles originally built by the affluent families of years past, with construction dates as early as the mid to late 1800s. Newer construction can be found further from the neighborhood hub, typically Craftsman and ranch-style homes. Those interested in purchasing a home in Oxford can expect a price range from $100,000 for older three-bedroom homes to $475,000 for four-bedroom homes that were built within the last five years and sit on more significant acreage. “What attracts buyers is the affordability of homes in Oxford compared to surrounding neighborhoods in central Ohio,” explains Detter.Summer days at Ashley Village Pool
Due to the area being covered in farmland, there are no established parks within the Oxford neighborhood. However, community residents can spend a day swimming at the Ashley Village Pool, which is open during summer. Within eyeshot from the pool is a stocked pond along E High Street where fishing enthusiasts have gone for years to catch trout, bass and the occasional catfish. The community comes together for the annual Ashley Corn Show, which has been celebrated since the early 1930s. The three-day event hosts attractions for all ages, including carnival rides, live bands and corn-related activities.Local eats along West High Street
Meals can be had at Rusted Nail, a tavern and grill in downtown Ashley, where residents can order classic pub-style food and watch live performances out a spacious patio. Pizza can be ordered a block away at Gibeye’s Pizza & The Ashley Watering Hole, which locals have praised for its recent change in overall management. Residents will have to venture outside of the community as there are not many options residing within the neighborhood. A short 8.7-mile drive leads to the nearest grocery store, a Kroger situated in the town of Delaware. Further south is NorthPointe Plaza, home to a Walmart Supercenter and Kohl’s and is 16.4 miles from Oxford along Columbus Pike. The Buckeye Valley pipeline
Young students will begin their journey at Buckeye Valley East Elementary School, which has a B-minus grade on Niche. Older students will attend Buckeye Valley Middle School before heading to Buckeye Valley High School, both of which have received a B from Niche. The high school is home to an established music department, as well as the National Honor Society.Commuting from Ashley
Though walking around downtown Ashley is common, thanks to its sidewalks, residents will need a car to get around the remainder of the neighborhood, alongside daily amenities outside of Oxford. Those looking to spend a day in the city can access Columbus via a 36-mile drive along I-71 South. The same route can be taken to reach John Glenn Columbus International Airport, just one mile away. Those seeking medical attention can reach OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital, located in 11.4-mile drive along US-42 South.Land for sale
A handful of land sales are made in Oxford throughout the year, providing those looking to build custom homes with options regarding acreage and location.
