Atglen offers quiet living in Chester County’s countryside
Residents can get away from it all in the Borough of Atglen, where quiet suburban living is brought to Chester County’s rural countryside, tucked between the rolling hills. Robbyn Kehoe, the Director of Atglen Library, has lived in Atglen for more than 30 years. “I love Atglen because it’s not as busy as the rest of the county," Kehoe says. "That’s really why most people move here, because life is much slower.”
The Penningtonville Presbyterian Church in Atglen was built in 1851.

Covered bridge, creeks and parks offer outdoor fun in Chester County
Locals may end up crossing Mercer’s Mill Covered Bridge, another piece of history from the 19th century. It goes over one of the many creeks that flow through the area, where kids can play on rope swings and jump in the water. Children also have fun on the playground at Atglen Community Park, which has a pavilion with picnic tables. Access to the Enola Low Grade Rail Trail is being added, which will connect Philadelphia to Harrisburg. “The rail trail is a big deal for us,” Kehoe says. “We love our rail trails, and it’s really going to sustain this already strong community.”
