Oakdale’s rural setting is accentuated by its outstretched country roads, wide-open fields and a network of trickling creeks and estuaries. Gregory has sold homes across the region for nearly a decade. “Whether you’re older and retiring or younger and starting a family, Oakdale is a wonderful place to live.”

Oakdale has many planned subdivisions, like The Ledges of Oakdale and Ridge at Oakdale. These communities are filled with brick contemporary colonials and New Traditional homes with attached garages, fenced-in backyards and roomy front yards. Homes are typically built close together and connected by well-maintained sidewalks. “It’s super safe. Kids ride their bikes around town or play in backyards, and parents feel comfortable not having them in sight the entire time,” Gregory says. Houses typically list between $300,000 and $600,000 for a three- or four-bedroom house, while custom homes can list between $600,000 and $800,000. Several homes are not part of a subdivision, sitting on private lots that measure over an acre.

Oakdale is a car-dependent community about 5 miles from the downtown Athens and 30 miles from Huntsville. The City of Athens and surrounding communities don’t have a public transit system.
