A quiet suburb positioned along the Middle Oconee River
Saint George Place, a slow-paced suburban community in the Timothy Road Corridor, hugs the western bends of the Middle Oconee River. Its stately Georgian homes overlook quiet, tree-lined streets where locals jog, bike or walk their dogs. The river separates the suburb from the buzz of football games at Sanford Stadium and the excitement of downtown. "It's a quiet area outside Five Points," says local broker associate Michelle Farmer of Keller Williams Greater Athens. She's lived in Athens for nearly three decades. "Which is ideal for people looking to be away from college students but still close to the stadium and downtown." Buyers are attracted to the community's large homes and proximity to The Loop and Athens Academy.

Custom homes and stately Georgian and ranch-style homes
Saint George Place was built slowly, over time. Its oldest houses were built in the 1960s, and its newest in the early 2010s. A few mid-century modern homes date back to the '60s and measure over 2,000 square feet. Many Georgian and ranch-style homes date back to the 1970s, '80s and '90s and are known for their brick facades and large floor plans. These homes typically measure over 2,500 square and feature three to five bedrooms. Housing prices range from $400,000 to $650,000. Custom homes, like those along Tanner Bluff and Renfrew, cost between $800,000 and $1.1 million. Homes that cost around $1 million usually measure 4,000 to 5,000 square feet and sit on at least an acre of land. Streets are woodsy, and most lots have towering pines and oaks. While there are no sidewalks, locals spend a lot of time walking outside.
Other custom built homes can also be found throughout the Saint George Place area.
