Small neighborhood next to Westside Park
Almond Park is gradually experiencing change on Atlanta's westside. "The whole westside is up and coming," says Atlanta resident Sam Elliott, a Realtor with Nationalrei. He points to the nearby Westside Park, the city's largest, as essential to the area's development. In 2023, Almond Park received a $40 million Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant, sparking new construction in the area. Local schools offer STEM programs, and the neighborhood is conveniently located near retail centers and major interstates. The Almond Park Carey Park (APCP) Neighborhood Association is an active nonprofit that focuses on community engagement.

Westside Park, which opened in 2021, is Atlanta's largest park. It was built atop a former granite quarry and is featured in films and TV shows like "The Hunger Games" and "The Walking Dead". This green space overlooks a 35-acre reservoir with trails that weave past public art installations, eventually linking to the 3-mile Atlanta Beltline Westside Trail. Nearby, Center Hill Park features a spray ground for kids that's open from May through October.

New construction is revitalizing Almond Park
In 2023, Almond Park received a $40 million Choice Neighborhoods Grant to add affordable housing and revitalize the community and neighboring Carey Park. Hilly, winding roads trail past traditional and Craftsman-style cottages in the area. Many of the neighborhood's homes built in the mid-20th century to early 2000s are being remodeled, but new construction is growing. "The buyers I sold to here bought a house and decided to renovate it," Elliott says. Home prices range from $190,000 to over $400,000, and lots cost between $50,000 and $80,000. The area has a CAP Index Crime Score of 7 out of 10, higher than the national average of 4, but the APCP neighborhood association holds several Public Safety Committee meetings each year.
