Why people move to Cascade Avenue
Cascade Avenue blends well-established character with an up-and-coming vibe in Southwest Atlanta. Some houses in the neighborhood are nearly a century old, keeping prices relatively low and attracting buyers interested in renovation projects. Locals enjoy easy access to Beltline spurs and John A. White Park, home to a public golf course that opened in 1929. The neighborhood also has a well-known restaurant corridor filled with longstanding sports bars and newer cafés. Several highways and major roads are nearby, giving drivers multiple ways to make the 5-mile trip into Downtown Atlanta.
Mature trees shade Cascade Avenue's diverse selection of homes.
The neighborhood has a lot of ranch styles.

House prices and styles
Cascade Avenue’s median sale price is around $240,000, which is significantly lower than Atlanta's median of about $425,000. Bungalows, cottages and ranch-style homes built between the 1920s and ‘70s make up most of the neighborhood, and these older homes have shaped the population. “There’s a pretty even mix of residents who have been there for generations and young families who moved in because the prices are so low and they don’t mind fixing a place up,” says Whitney Kennedy, a sales associate with Weichert Realtors Prestige Partners who has sold several homes in the area. Fixer-uppers typically cost between the mid-$100,000s and the lower $200,000s, while updated houses usually range from the mid-$200,000s to the mid-$400,000s. The neighborhood also has a few new builds, generally costing between the lower $500,000s and the lower $600,000s.
Cottages make up a good portion of houses in the neighborhood.
Many homes in the neighborhood date back to the mid-20th century.

Driving from Cascade Avenue to Downtown Atlanta
The neighborhood is car-dependent and well connected, with Interstate 20, Cascade Avenue and Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard all reaching Downtown Atlanta. Driving there typically takes 10 to 20 minutes, depending on which route you take. “I try to avoid getting on I-20, mainly during rush hour,” Kennedy says. “The backroads are always a little busy around that time as well, but they’re never as bad as the highway.” Public transportation is also easily accessible, with MARTA buses running through the area.
