Contemporary subdivisions meet established midcentury homes in CMG
The CMG neighborhood offers a mix of contemporary subdivisions and older sections of established 20th-century homes. The older areas of the neighborhood consist of ranch-style homes, Craftsman-style bungalows and cottages on small lots, many heavily shaded with pine and magnolia trees. Prices for these homes range between $300,000 and $475,000. Subdivisions built in the late 2010s have homes with contemporary Craftsman and New Traditional-inspired exteriors. A contemporary home typically lists between $500,000 and $715,000. "Homes here are starting to grow in value," St. George says. "But there are still more affordable houses available for buyers." These homes often have HOA fees of around $100 per month. Townhouses often list between $285,000 and $300,000. This southeast Atlanta community is surrounded by popular parks and gardens. One of the closest green spaces is Benteen Park, which has a playground, a large field and some athletic areas. The space is home to the Benteen Park Fall Fest, which celebrates the local community, artisans, musicians and food vendors. Other favorite outdoor spaces include Chosewood Park, which has a nature trail, sports courts and playground, and iconic Grant Park. This 131-acre park is home to Zoo Atlanta and has miles of woodsy trails surrounded by grassy fields, playgrounds, a pool and a rec center. CMG is also not far from Lakewood Amphitheatre, an outdoor music venue. Students can also apply to the Atlanta College and Career Academy, which has pathways such as graphic design, programming and cybersecurity. The neighborhood is surrounded by several major highways, including Interstates 20, 85 and 285. The community is about 6 miles from downtown and 3 miles from the closest MARTA station, Georgia Avenue Southeast. There are also MARTA bus stops available on Moreland Avenue. The closest medical centers are Grady Memorial Hospital, 5 miles away, and Emory University Hospital at Wesley Woods, 7 miles away. CMG borders Moreland Avenue Southeast, which has an ALDI grocery store, small businesses, the Starlight Drive-In Theater and the Halidom Eatery. This local food court offers restaurant booths offering options like pizza, cheesesteaks and tacos. "There aren't a ton of restaurants available here, but the area is starting to grow in terms of dining," St. George says. "The Starlight Drive-In is a huge draw for people, too, because drive-in theaters are so rare nowadays. And it has a flea market every Saturday that we love." On Bill Kennedy Way Southeast, there's a Kroger, small businesses and more dining. There are options for larger retail areas with big box stores and shopping malls like Lenox Square, Greenbriar Mall and Camp Creek Marketplace. These commercial hubs are less than 15 miles away and accessible through the highway.Crime
