Lindbergh offers easy commutes around Atlanta

Walkability and easy access to public transportation are a big part of life in Lindbergh. The Buckhead neighborhood is home to the Lindbergh Center Transit Station, one of MARTA’s busiest rail stops. This fast-paced, urban setting, along with its mid-rise multifamily homes, makes Lindbergh especially popular with young professionals who commute to Atlanta's major business districts. When the workday ends, you can step off the train and head straight to one of the bars and restaurants right outside the station.

The cost of homes in Lindbergh

Apartments, condos and townhouses make up most of Lindbergh’s housing. The median sale price is around $330,000, which is less than Atlanta's median of about $425,000. It’s also lower than what you'll typically find in other Buckhead neighborhoods like Garden Hills, Peachtree Park and Buckhead Forest. “Lindbergh is a great entry point into the otherwise pricey Buckhead area, which is why it attracts young people who want the full city living experience before they’re ready to settle down,” says Bruce Ailion, a Realtor with RE/MAX Town and Country who has sold several homes in the area. One- to two-bedroom units typically cost between the upper $100,000s and the mid-$400,000s, while three- to four-bedroom places usually range from the lower $600,000s to the lower $700,000s.

What HOA fees cover in different communities

Some condo buildings and townhouses in Lindbergh have HOAs. For example, homeowners in the Cosmopolitan at Lindbergh building pay fees that cover amenities like a fitness center and a swimming pool. At Broadview Place, a gated townhouse community, dues go toward landscaping, security and exterior building maintenance.

Commuting to major business districts

Lindbergh Center Transit Station is a transfer point between MARTA’s Red Line and Gold Line, the system’s two longest routes. “You don’t need to own a car to live here,” Ailion says. “Some of the city’s most important places and a bunch of business districts are accessible by train.” From Lindbergh, both lines reach:

  • Buckhead’s core in about 10 minutes
  • Midtown Atlanta in about 15 minutes
  • Downtown Atlanta in about 20 minutes
  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in about 30 minutes
MARTA also operates several bus routes throughout the neighborhood.

Heavy traffic impacts Interstate 85

If you have a car, Lindbergh sits just west of Interstate 85, which is a direct route to Downtown Atlanta. However, traffic is typically heavy, so driving there can sometimes take 15 to 40 minutes. “That’s why people here rely on the train more than driving,” Ailion says. “Commute times can just be so unpredictable in this city, with all the construction, wrecks and rush-hour congestion.”

Shopping and dining around Lindbergh

Lindbergh is home to a Target and a handful of shopping centers, including Buckhead Crossing, which is anchored by big-box stores like HomeGoods and Marshalls. Across the street from the station, Uptown, sometimes called Lindbergh City Center, is a mixed-use development with MARTA’s headquarters and a diverse lineup of restaurants, including:

  • White Windmill, a Korean bakery serving everything from mocha bread to milk buns
  • 26 Thai Kitchen & Bar, offering classic curries and fried rice in a modern setting
  • J’ouvert Caribbean Kitchen & Bar, known for its popular Sunday brunch with menu items like oxtail stew and rum punch
  • Madre Selva, a Peruvian seafood spot with a ceviche bar and a big cocktail menu
With a major transportation hub right there, the district sees steady foot traffic throughout the day. “People stop by for coffee on their way to the train, and then after work, it turns into a pretty popular nightlife spot,” Ailion says.
