A self-contained neighborhood in Buckhead
Peachtree Park is planted in the bustling uptown Atlanta district called Buckhead, but it manages to stay secluded from the hubbub. Libby Viergever, a resident since 2018, attributes that to the fact no major roads cut through the residential enclave. “We have six entrances, but there’s no way out on the other side,” explains Viergever, communications chair for the Peachtree Park Civic Association. “We are a self-contained neighborhood.” Cars don’t fly through Peachtree Park on their way to work or the mall, but the streets stay busy. Street festivals, children on bicycles and families walking their dogs are common and constant sights in Peachtree Park, Viergever says. “We live on a corner, and I bet we have 75 people walk by every day.”

Peachtree Park homes draw residents from families to empty nesters
Single-family homeowners fill Peachtree Park, where Tudors, Cape Cods and other early- and mid-20th-century home styles line the streets. Many of these houses are small, attracting empty nesters moving into the city from the suburbs, Viergever says. However, she adds that the demographics of Peachtree Park aren’t a monolith. “People are generally coming back into town from big homes where they raised kids. But you have a lot of young families with kids here. They’re always out on the street on bikes and hoverboards or walking their dogs.” New homes are popping up too, displaying boxy, modernist designs and larger square footage. A small cottage may cost $600,000, while bigger houses sell for as much as $2.5 million.
