Pittsburgh
Suburban Neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia
Fulton County 30310, 30315
Bungalows from the 1920s and modern new builds
Houses are packed along tight city streets with walkable sidewalks. Properties sit on small grass lots and usually feature narrow driveways, though street parking is common. Homebuyers can find renovated bungalows from the early 20th century priced between $275,000 and $350,000. New Traditional properties built in the early 2000s cost between $270,000 and $470,000. New development in the neighborhood has resulted in sleek, organic modern designs that start at $470,000 and rise to $630,000.Pittsburgh Yards is a new space to work and relax
For shared green space, residents can go to Pittman Park. Located in the heart of the neighborhood, the park features basketball and tennis courts, a playground and a community pool. It also hosts a recreation center with an indoor gymnasium. Residents can walk on the BeltLine’s Southside Trail along University Avenue. “The Beltline and the development of Pittsburgh Yards has really helped the neighborhood,” says Derrick Duckworth, a Realtor with Call It Closed International who has served Atlanta for 15 years. Pittsburgh Yards is a collection of office buildings, coworking spaces and proposed retail locations designed to attract resident-led businesses and drive economic growth in southwest Atlanta. Phase One is finished, and the rest of the project is in development. When completed, Pittsburgh Yards will offer space for residents to play, work, and gather on the BeltLine.Schools in partnership with Purpose Built Schools Atlanta
Kids may begin at Charles L. Gideons Elementary, which has a C-minus grade from Niche. Students advance to C-minus-rated Sylvan Hills Middle. Students can attend C-minus-rated Carver STEAM Academy or the B-minus-rated Early College High School at Carver. Carver STEAM is partnered with Purpose Built Schools Atlanta to create college readiness programs, like the aviation program, which teaches aviation technical skills. Students can participate in dual enrollment programs and career, technical and agricultural education pathways at Carver Early College.Support local growers at the Pittsburgh Community Market
Neighbors can mingle at community events at Pittsburgh Yards. On Saturdays from March to October, the Pittsburgh Community Market hosts community bike rides and showcases local growers and artisans. Monthly, the STE(A)M Truck hosts hands-on programming activities for elementary-aged children to learn more about science and technology. In December, the community hosts a holiday parade.Walk the BeltLine or hop on the MARTA
“Being an in-town neighborhood, there’s great access to the city, the BeltLine and MARTA,” Duckworth says. The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority services Pittsburgh, and there are bus stops along McDaniel Street Southwest and Metropolitan Parkway Southwest. Locals can walk to some amenities on sidewalks along residential streets. Residents can access Interstate 85 in the southeast corner of the neighborhood.Grab a pulled pork sandwich from Rodney Scott’s BBQ Atlanta
Small local shops like Pyramid Grocery offer grab-and-go essentials. To shop at a larger supermarket, residents can drive or take the bus 2 miles northwest to Kroger. The neighborhood is 2 miles from downtown Atlanta, where locals can find many retailers and boutique shops. Pittsburgh hosts local eateries; Rodney Scott’s BBQ Atlanta is a favorite for whole hog pulled pork and mac and cheese. Jamrock Jerk Center and Grill serves Jamaican platters in a casual environment. At 404 Coffee, locals can enjoy specialty-crafted lattes and breakfast sandwiches named after Atlanta locations.
