A rural getaway at the center of everything

Located 30 miles east of Flint, 42 miles west of Port Huron and 60 miles north of Detroit, Attica Township is “Right in the middle of everything,” says Brandon Rowley, a long-time Attica resident and associate broker with Realty Executives Main Street LLC. “It’s quaint and secluded but it’s also very close to larger towns. You’re not in the city but very close, so it’s nice that you have some breathing room and that country feel.”

This township’s history dates back to the mid-19th century when a New Yorker named William Williams moved to the area and built a sawmill. These days, it’s primarily a residential community with stretching fields and small-town charm.

“You visit and feel like you’re at home,” says Rowley, “A lot of families have been there for many decades. No one usually leaves because it’s just a nice area.”

1,500 square foot homes on several acres

Cottages, ranches and farmhouses are the most common home styles, ranging in build date from as early as 1890 and as late as 2020. Although the average home size in Attica Township is only about 1,500 square feet, the median lot size is close to 3 acres. “They’re pretty modest homes,” says Rowley. “There’s a mix of older and newer options, and they all, for the most part, have acreage. It’s a rural area, so it’s attractive to a lot of people looking for land.”

Stretching evergreen and oak trees stand tall around properties and create a sense of privacy and seclusion. Homes are pushed away from roads, featuring long driveways that lead to attached or detached garages. Prices range from as low as $115,000 to as high as $700,000 depending on the size, age and year built.
