Auburn-area suburb with variety of housing
Set 4 miles from downtown Auburn and between two major thoroughfares, the suburb of Country Club Estates combines single-family homes with dog-friendly 55-and-up communities. Highly rated district schools are a short drive away, and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. “We have a mix of local and out-of-town folks moving here,” says Tyler Chicourrat, Realtor with Wesely and Associates, Inc, who lives near the area. “They’re drawn to the housing price points and subdivisions with low homeowners association dues.” Residents here stay active at the local racquet club or hit the trails on the east side of Interstate 80.
Ranch-style homes and custom-builds
Ranch-style homes from the 1980s and ‘90s in the western end of Country Club Estates are set along sidewalk- and tree-lined streets. These two-to-three-bedroom houses share common features like driveways leading to two-car garages, rows of hedging between homes and mature trees providing shade. Sizes vary between 1,300 and 1,500 square feet with prices ranging from $430,000 to $540,000. Custom-built homes on up to half-acre lots sit in the neighborhood’s eastern end, ranging from $625,000 to $830,000. Manufactured homes with up to two bedrooms are found at the Woodside Village Mobile Home Park, one of the 55 and up communities. There are no sidewalks here and the streets are narrow. Prices range from $75,000 to $250,000.

Nearby highway and interstate access
Country Club Estates is sandwiched between the two-lane State Route 49 to the west, also known as Grass Valley Highway, and Interstate 80 to the east; both lead about 4 miles south to downtown Auburn. I-80 takes locals farther southwest to Downtown Sacramento. Luther Road forms the neighborhood’s southern border and is its primary east-west thoroughfare. Placer County Transit buses service the neighborhood, and locals can use the Placer Commuter Express to get to Downtown Sacramento. Dial-A-Ride, a pickup driving service, is also an option. Sidewalks line some neighborhood streets, and bike lanes line the highway and interstate. Auburn Municipal Airport is located a few miles north, offering flight instruction, air ambulances and private charters, while Sacramento Regional Airport is 45 miles southwest. Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital is toward the northwest.
Pool fun at the Auburn Racquet and Fitness Club
A few recreational areas are found inside the neighborhood. Spring Meadows Park has a small, fenced grassy area large enough to toss a frisbee or juggle a soccer ball and a gazebo with a picnic table. Nearby, kids can run around on the playground before cooling off in the pool, which doesn’t have a lifeguard, or organize a pick-up basketball game. Two tennis courts are also located here. The Auburn Racquet and Fitness Club offers members access to heated pools, swimming lessons and water therapy, along with racquetball and pickleball. A variety of group exercise classes are offered all week, plus there are kids’ day camps. Ashford Park sits a few miles southeast of the neighborhood, and has an off-leash dog park, a fishing pond and picnic shelter.

Downtown concerts and park billiards
Events frequently take place farther from Country Club Estates. “Most of the neighborhood is great for trick-or-treating or Christmas light displays, but locals go into Old Town or downtown Auburn for fun," Chicourrat says. Local and nationally known musicians perform during Auburn’s concert series, and the Placer Artists Tour in November is where over 100 artists display and sell their work. Woodside Village Mobile Home Park residents participate in billiards, card games, pool parties and exercise classes. Dogs are popular companions here, so much so that there will be a new dog park opening in the spring of 2025.
