Less than 10 miles from downtown Augusta and Fort Eisenhower, Jamestown is a primarily residential neighborhood in South Augusta. With pockets of undeveloped land, South Augusta has seen revitalization efforts that have started with an apartment complex and a new Dollar Tree, for starters. Currently, Jamestown is home to the largest community center in the city and has several nearby shopping centers and a sports complex. “It is pretty close to Fort Eisenhower, and a decent percentage of the residents either work there or are retired military,” says Al Simmons, an associate broker with Re/Max True Advantage, who has more than a decade's worth of experience in real estate and property management. “The mayor is fighting for more development in South Augusta and is encouraging businesses to move out that way."
A variety of housing options, old and new
Jamestown hosts everything from a new apartment complex that attracts renters, to a mobile home park and new construction townhomes. Older subdivisions feature classic brick-front ranches and split levels that adorn spacious lots. Developing subdivisions are sprouting up with new construction Craftsman-style homes with fenced-in backyards. Prices range from $160,000 to $440,000, but buyers can expect a three-bedroom townhouse to go for around $250,000 and rise to about $335,000 for a five-bedroom modern Craftsman. “The market in this area and Augusta in general remains strong, even though it is down slightly from last year,” Simmon
