Around two miles from Aurora's City Center, Chambers Heights is an established suburb with attractive price points and easy access to public transit. Roughly 15 miles from downtown Denver, the neighborhood offers walkability to public schools, recreation and shopping.
The residential streets of Chambers Heights are lined with a diverse selection of houses, from manufactured homes and condos to ranch-style homes and split levels built throughout the 1960s and ‘70s. Properties are typically between 6,000 square feet and a quarter acre, and most feature attached garages and fenced-in back yards with mature trees. “I sold a home here where the buyer fell in love with the property because it had a garage and backyard where he could park his vehicles and also use the space for other things. The home itself had the feel of a mountain home, super cozy, even though it was an older brick ranch,” says Realtor Spencer Bruce with Ed Prather Real Estate.
With a median sales price of around $400,000, Chamber Heights is more affordable than the average Arapahoe County neighborhood. Multi-family units start in the low $200,000s and reach the low $300,000s, while single-family homes range from around $300,000 to the lower $500,000s. “Along with affordability, it has a cool atmosphere with a friendly neighborhood vibe, quiet streets and mature trees,” says Joshua Zelcer, a real estate agent with Brokers Guild Real Estate and a member of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce.
Elkhart Elementary School lies in the center of the neighborhood and offers an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme for its high-achieving students. East Middle School sits just a half mile north. Hinkley High School is known for its robust STEM curriculum, with career-based pathways in biomedical science and engineering. Aurora Public Schools offers a concurrent enrollment program for all high school students through a partnership with the Community College of Aurora.
Both Chambers Road and East Sixth Avenue are lined with shops and restaurants. La Plaza Colorado is a new food hall with Hispanic cuisine from local food trucks. Tacos el Reydesel is known for its quesa and birria tacos, while El Zarandio serves seafood options. Pho 888 is a popular spot serving Vietnamese fare. Save A Lot, King Soopers and Mi Pueblo Market are nearby for groceries. Town Center at Aurora is around 2 miles south in City Center and has over 100 businesses, from clothing boutiques to major department stores. The Medical Center of Aurora’s North Campus and the UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital are both within a 2-mile drive.
The Denver area is known for its outdoor recreation and mountain views, with numerous parks and trails within a few miles of Chambers Heights. Toll Gate Creek snakes along the southwestern corner of the neighborhood, offering outdoor recreation to the community through the paved and natural trails that follow it. The High Line Canal Trail is also nearby and runs for over 70 miles. “It’s a gorgeous walking path that bisects the neighborhood. There’s a creek that runs through manicured grass – it’s a neatly preserved area,” Bruce says. Del Mar Park is roughly two miles west on Sixth Avenue and has a playground, baseball diamonds, athletic courts and an outdoor pool.
“There’s great access to public transportation on this side of town,” Zelcer says.
