This tranquil community in southeast Aurora is designed with ample amenities and built around an 18-hole golf course. Housing varies from rustic to Craftsman-style residences. Murphy Creek’s streets are grid-patterned with occasional cul-de-sacs cradling residential areas, and most houses come with straight driveways and attached garages. Murphy Creek is far from finished as well, with new constructions and developments slated for construction soon. Meritage Homes plans to add energy-efficient single-family homes with smart home features to this expanding planned community.

Single-family homes fetch $465,000 for about 1,360 square feet to $750,000 for 4,300 square feet. But 2-story town houses and condos are available as well. Nailah Vega, a 17-year real estate agent who has sold several homes in Murphy Creek, mentions, “People move here for the amenities of the neighborhood, the benefits of the HOA and, of course, the golf course within walking distance.”

The Aurora Joint School District No. 28 serves kids in the area, and nearby options for education include the in-neighborhood Murphy Creek K-8 School, rated a B on Niche, and Rangeview High, rated a B-plus on Niche. Murphy Creek K-8 recently had a $300 million bond renovation from the city to increase the school’s capacity and modernize equipment.

Murphy Creek residents are close to green spaces like Homestead Park, featuring a soccer field and playground for kids, and Great Plains Park, which has a water playground, softball diamond, several walking trails, and a half basketball court. You’d also be 5 miles from the Aurora Reservoir, a 31,635-acre body of water where you can kayak on its pristine waters, fish for catfish and smallmouth bass, and stroll along its 8-mile hiking trail. Most residents like to hone their skills on Murphy Creek Golf Course, a public course built around the neighborhood. The golf course theme is “homestead,” based on the rustic farmhouses that decorate the greens. Its degree of difficulty allows players of all skill levels to enjoy playing. And head over to the “19th hole,” the Murphy Creek Tavern. As Vega says, “The Tavern is a popular spot for locals; whether you golf or not, people still come in and enjoy the menu and atmosphere.” Try their selection of burgers and signature wraps, or book them for private events.

Murphy Creek is only an 8-mile drive to Southlands Mall for retail, browse brands like Walmart, JCPenney, and T.J. Maxx. And for groceries, you’ll have the options of Sam’s Club and Safeway here. If it’s too rainy to head outside, Bowlero Aurora is just 7 miles west. There, you can sip soda and knock over pins with your friends.

A car is necessary for day-to-day life in Murphy Creek, especially with no public transport in the neighborhood. Murphy Creek is next to Colorado state Highway 170 and Colorado E-470 toll road. A 15-mile drive down the toll road takes you to Denver International Airport. 22 miles west will take you to downtown Denver as well. Murphy Creek combines a planned subdivision's appeal, organization, and seclusion with easy access to nearby metropolitan areas.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
