Maple Run
Homes built between the early ‘80s and the mid-2000s
Tall live oaks shade the quiet residential streets throughout Maple Run. Most homes here were built between the early ‘80s and the mid-2000s, in styles ranging from single-story ranches to two-story Traditional-style homes. “A lot of the draw is that it’s a more affordable part of Austin,” says Russell Cavin, a broker with Uptown Realty Austin who has lived in the city for over a decade. Single-family homes typically cost between $420,000 and $675,000. However, renovated homes can cost up to $800,000. “Homes are staying on the market for a little longer than they did two or three years ago, but they’re still moving pretty fast compared to other neighborhoods around here,” Caplan says.CapMetro and the MoPac Expressway
As in most Austin suburbs, the fastest way to get around from Maple Run is by car. The MoPac Expressway is a major roadway for commuters. Stops along the CapMetro bus line are conveniently located along Eskew Drive and Brodie Lane, many within half a mile of the neighborhood. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center is about 4 miles away.A high school with dual enrollment to Austin Community College
Students here are served by schools in the Austin Independent School District. While the exact elementary-to-middle-to-high school pathway varies depending on where in the neighborhood the student lives, many kids go to Boone Elementary, which received a B grade from Niche. B-rated Covington Middle School is up next, followed by B-rated Crockett High School. As an early college school, Crockett High offers students the opportunity to graduate with an associate degree through its dual enrollment program in partnership between Crockett and Austin Community College.Plenty of outdoor amenities at Dick Nichols District Park
“There are a couple of big parks nearby, and there are hiking trails from inside the neighborhood that go all the way to the parks,” says Caplan, noting that despite the inconsistent sidewalks around the neighborhood, the trails make Maple Run easily strollable. Dick Nichols District Park is about 2 miles away, offering an outdoor pool, which is open seasonally every summer, sand volleyball and tennis courts and sunny practice ball fields. Even closer to home, the Deer Park at Maple Run Preserve has shady multi-use trails.Stores and restaurants just 2 miles away on MoPac Expressway
For groceries, residents head 2 miles up the MoPac Expressway to Costco and Whole Foods at the Shops at Arbor Trails. The shopping center has everything from banks and fast-casual eateries to hair salons and jewelers. Even more shopping and dining options await another mile up the expressway, where the bustling road meets Highway 71. Shopping centers have everything from Walmart Supercenter to other retail options. Closer to home, the locally owned and operated Evangeline Café offers authentic Cajun-style cuisine. Backspin Texas Sports Bar & Grill offers pub grub and an abundance of television screens to watch the big games.
