Whisper Valley is an eco-friendly master-planned community

Northeast Austin’s Whisper Valley is an over 2,000-acre master-planned community designed to be environmentally friendly. “Everything about that community is based on sustainability,” says Realtor Summer Carter with eXp Realty. “It’s a specialized community that is geared toward people that want modern living and new construction homes.” Whisper Valley implements features such as solar power and geothermal technology into every home, and builds a tranquil environment with communal amenities like gardens, a fitness center and a resort-style pool. Its location away from Austin’s core gives it a peaceful feel, away from the bustle of the city. “It’s in East Austin, so you get some kind of Hill Country-ish views over there, whereas you wouldn’t get that in Central Austin,” Carter says.

Sustainable technology incorporated into every home

Buyers in Whisper Valley can choose between soon-to-be-built and move-in-ready homes, all of which integrate sustainable features, such as geothermal heating and cooling and energy-efficient appliances. Buyers can pick between homes from seven different builders that typically come in modern and new traditional styles. Though there is the option to rent in Whisper Valley, about 85% of residents own their homes. The average home value in Whisper Valley is much lower than Austin's average home value, making buying a more accessible option. “It’s not super expensive,” Carter says. “Prices start in the mid to high $300,000s, and you could probably go up from there depending on the size of the home and the builder.” Whisper Valley has a 1 out of 10 CAP Index Crime Score, below the national average of 4.
