Nature and amenities surround Ayer
Ayer, 60 minutes from Boston, is surrounded by nature and modern conveniences. “It’s a great place to live for all ages,” says Kristin Hilberg, a local realtor with Keller Williams Realty, Boston Northwest. “Everybody has a place here.” Ayer, Devens, Shirley, and other neighboring towns were part of Fort Devens. Although the army still uses a portion of the land, much of it is now home to facilities for research, biotech and food and beverage processing and packaging. Shopping and dining experiences are found on West Main Street and Front Street. Homes in the area branch outwards from the main thoroughfare and increase in size further from town.

Off Main Street, seafood enthusiasts can enjoy a fisherman’s platter at Tiny’s Diner, a family-owned restaurant. “These places are institutions,” says Hilberg. “Everyone goes here.”
