Belcourt Park
Bevy of styles with custom builds in gated communities
Belcourt Park has modern Mediterranean and New Traditional homes with Craftsman and Spanish Revival architectural elements, like stone accents and stucco siding. Classical styles, like Italian villas, are in gated communities with custom builds. “Architecturally, the homes are unlike what you see in the rest of Seven Oaks. They’re all stucco with really grand entryways, and people love walking in with that modern architecture,” Gordon says. Homes typically have three-car garages, and many backyards accommodate swimming pool installation.Four central communities within Belcourt Park share attributes like modern construction, shaded walkways and bike paths. The Amberley community includes Mediterranean-style homes that span over 1,600 square feet. The Mahogany community has three-to-five-bedroom homes with lush landscaping in private backyards bordered by tall fences or white-stone walls. The Sterling community is a centerpiece with custom homes extending over 14,000 square feet with classical styles and occasional courtyards around decorative fountains. Single-family home prices range from $450,000 to $1.5 million. A single-story Mediterranean-style home can cost between $450,000 and $700,000, while a more extensive New Traditional home is listed from $700,000 to $1 million. Newly built classical homes in the Sterling community hover around $1 million to $1.5 million.
Planned outdoor oasis
The Belcourt Community Park is a central space with picnic shelters, tennis courts and a playground. These amenities lie next to an open space and an outdoor theater with raised stone bleachers and low-cut grass for seating. “Walking trails, called paseos, lead to the pool, the gym and the clubhouse. The trails are often well-landscaped and gated, allowing you to walk in a private setting,” Gordon says. The Belcourt Center Club features a resort-style pool, spa and fitness center inside a central red-brick building. The clubhouse also offers indoor activities like yoga or arts and crafts. To the north, Windermere Park has a basketball court and barbecue grills. The Seven Oaks Country Club is less than 3 miles north, with seven night-lit tennis courts, two pickleball courts and a 27-hole championship golf course lined with ponds.Walk to the brand-new Belcourt Village shopping center
Belcourt Park is less than 5 miles from three major shopping centers. The Marketplace on Ming Avenue is an outdoor shopping plaza with boutiques, salons and a Regal Edwards movie theater. Gosford Village is another outlet center with a Walmart and a Petco. The Shops at River Walk have chain restaurants and stores like Nordstrom Rack. Walking trails lead to Belcourt Village, a newer area for shopping and dining at the corner of White Lane and Buena Vista Road. Mustang Square is also nearby, with several businesses and a Walgreens. Smitten is a relaxed café with a modern atmosphere for brunch and dinner. Soy Y Luna is a Mexican restaurant with tablecloth dining and ornate seating on a shaded patio. For groceries, Vons is in The Marketplace on Ming Avenue, and Foodmaxx is a discount supermarket on White Lane.Opportunity to attend Stockdale High School
The Panama-Buena Vista Union School District and the Kern High School District serve students across Belcourt Park. Named after the first teacher to travel to outer space, Christa McAuliffe Elementary School receives a B grade from Niche. Students can play basketball, volleyball or run track at Earl Warren Junior High School, which has a B-plus grade. Stockdale High School earns an A and is ranked as the No. 1 best high school in the Bakersfield area, according to Niche. Additionally, the average student SAT score at the high school is 1240, and it offers activities like coding club, forensics or mock trial.Seven Oaks Events
The Seven Oaks Country Club is one of Bakersfield’s prominent event centers. The campus includes an impressive banquet hall, culinary service from local eateries and red-brick walkways through flower gardens. Seven Oaks has weekly events for members, such as Sunday brunch and pasta night. The Belcourt Center also hosts social events for residents to mingle. Concerts by the Fountain is a live music series at the Marketplace shopping center, where the community gathers for a block party by the fountain on Thursday nights in July and August.Getting around from a heavenly enclave
Belcourt Park is a car-dependent and somewhat bikeable neighborhood. The Golden Empire Transit bus provides public transportation for Bakersfield. However, Belcourt Park’s public transit is limited, with the nearest pick-up points along the Stockdale Highway, about 3 miles north. Buena Vista Road, a main thoroughfare, runs north toward the river. White Lane heads east for 6 miles before connecting to Route 99, which extends north to Fresno or south to Interstate 5 and several of California’s largest cities. Los Angeles is roughly 113 miles south of Bakersfield on I-5. The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the nearest airline hub, with flights making trips to worldwide destinations.Air quality in Bakersfield
Kern County produces more oil than any other county in California. A foothold for oil and petroleum industries, Bakersfield tends to have more poor air quality days than other California towns outside the San Joaquin Valley.
