A central California suburb with a hometown feel
Crystal Ranch is a centrally located northwestern suburb of Bakersfield surrounded by the rich natural beauty of the wild California landscape. “We’re two hours away from anything you could want in the state,” says Jasmin LoBasso, superintendent of recreation and community services at North of the River Recreation and Park District. “Two hours from the beach, about an hour from the desert and 40 minutes from the mountains.” Residents also enjoy the perks of proximity to LA while still having that small community vibe. “Bakersfield is a very different culture than the rest of the state. It has a hometown feel,” says LoBasso. It’s not uncommon to see residents getting together at parks for community events, going for hikes on nearby trails, or going for runs within the residential area within this active community.
Palm-tree spotted streets
Laid out in a grid, this planned development features rows of ranches, craftsman-style homes, and single-family contemporary houses with a Spanish Mission influence. Broad streets provide ample room for street parking, though many homes have two-car garages and driveways. Compact, palm tree spotted lawns feature intricate floral landscaping, with bushes blooming with colorful roses. Homes tend to sell for $350,000 to $450,000, with the average sale price being $430,000. Homes with more square footage tend to sell for a higher price, as houses with 2,250 square feet or more sell from $460,000 to $550,000, with the average sale price falling around $500,000.
