A quiet residential pocket surrounded by dining and shopping plazas, Eagle Ridge residents can step outside their front doors and take a walk through the open green space of their neighborhood. Or they can hop in the car and drive a mile in any direction to arrive at a restaurant or storefront. The school districts in Eagle Ranch are rated higher than the surrounding areas, making this suburb 7 miles northwest of downtown Bakersfield a desirable place for families to call home. “A lot of people moving into the Bakersfield area choose the west side of town because it’s safer and has better school systems,” says Jose Torres, a Realtor at RE/MAX Golden Empire with 5 years of experience in Bakersfield.
Mediterranean-style homes with pools
A bird’s eye view of the area shows green lawns with trees shading sizeable front and back yards, with many outdoor pools. “Many people are relocating from the L.A. Basin and other areas because they were living in tiny houses that cost the same as larger properties with more yard space in and around Bakersfield,” Torres says. Mediterranean ranch homes with attached garages and driveways, some with brick facades and fenced-in yards, range from 1,500 to 2,000 square feet in size and around $350,000 to $450,000 in price. Larger, 2,500- to 3,000-square-foot Mediterranean-style homes with manicured, palm-tree-laden lawns and multicar garages and driveways typically cost between $500,000 and about $675,000.
