Why not Wible?
Sitting between sprawling hectares of farmland and narrow miles of state highway, South Wible Orchard asks many home buyers one simple question: why not? With its many quiet residential streets lined with charming and relatively affordable home designs, evolving school system and wealth of amenities for shopping, what's not to like?
A quiet suburb of variety
South Wible Orchard begins to the north along White Lane and extends east in a segmented grid from its western barrier of U.S. Highway 99. The slow suburban streets of the neighborhood lead to row after row of 1980s-era ranch styles, Craftsmans and cottages that come in various designs, most often implementing the charms and facets of midcentury, modern traditional or Spanish Colonial Revival. Yard spaces range from small to modest, often with a driveway leading to one or more garage doors. These all tend to sell for a price range of $270,000 to $360,000, making South Wible Orchard one of the less-pricey areas of Bakersfield.

Big box retail and thai food
The neighborhood is largely residential, meaning most shopping and dining happens on major boundary streets or outside of the area. Reaching eateries and shops in downtown Bakersfield is fairly simple, with two direct access points to Highway 99, which also cuts down drive time to the local Walmart Supercenter, Lowe's Home Improvement or Vallarta Supermarket, all located in the neighborhood's southwest corner. And with neighborhood restaurants like Ocha Thai, weeknights can mean everything from TV dinners to authentic curry chicken.

A Fair way to spend the day
Most large events take place outside of South Wible Orchard, though still pretty close. The Kern County Fair—one of the city's largest annual events—takes place only 2 miles north of White Lane.
College-like high school campus
Neighborhood students are afforded several schools directly in or immediately outside of their neighborhood. Most young students begin at either W. A. Kendricks Elementary or Palla Rafaella Elementary. The latter school earns a B-minus grade from Niche, while Kendricks receives a B-plus rating. Greenfield Middle comes next for most students, earning a C-plus score from Niche and offers afterschool enrichment programs. Some students will then finish at Golden Valley High, which gets a B rating from Niche. But others might instead attend Del Oro High School, which opened in 2023 and thus does not yet have adequate public data on its performance. However, the school offers a unique physical environment for learning that seeks to imitate a college campus for high schoolers.

Rec sports at Rexland
There is only one park in South Wible Orchard, Stierra Park. It offers local youths a shaded jungle gym to climb on during even the hottest summer days. Less than a mile west of the neighborhood, Rexland Acres Park offers a space for recreational sports like basketball and hard surface tennis.
Immediate itinerary
Highway 99 cuts down on commute times into downtown, which is only about 4 miles away but would otherwise require sitting at many traffic lights. The highway can even be taken all the way to Meadows Field Airport when leaving on business or pleasure. Those who rely on public transportation for their commute or errands are afforded bus routes on most through-roads, which can be taken into downtown.
